Common questions
Is Secure Mac free?
Yes, the app is free to download. Scans use your own Anthropic API key, so Anthropic bills you directly for the usage. You can open the built-in sample report without a key.
How do I get an Anthropic API key?
Create an account at console.anthropic.com, add billing, then open API Keys and create a key. Paste it into Secure Mac's Settings (⌘,). It is stored in your Mac's Keychain.
Why does Secure Mac ask for access to LaunchAgents folders?
Malware and remote-control tools usually restart through launch agents and daemons. The macOS sandbox only lets the app read these folders if you grant them, and access is read-only.
Does a clean report mean my Mac is safe?
It is a good sign, but not a guarantee. Sandboxed App Store apps cannot see everything, which is why every report includes a short list of settings to check yourself.
Does Secure Mac change or remove anything?
No. Every check is read-only. The report tells you what to do and links to the right System Settings pane, but you stay in control of every change.
